A One Night Adventure

On the night of Sept 17, 2023, Ganja White Night and Subtronics met onstage for a performance we have been wanting for years. The festival itself ran 3 days but we only had the one set we really wanted to see. With it being just down the road from where we were living at the time, it was a no brainer. We took the day off to get ready for the night and went into the festival a little before sundown.

Friday: Before the Mind Melt 🤯

I didn’t take any pictures or videos this night. I really wanted to be in the moment and recharge my batteries as much as possible.

Parking was pretty straightforward as they had a lot for day only attendees. A short walk to the gates, get past security, and we were in! After the other festivals and shows we have been to, this one was like a paper copy. Decor was either flimsy or ultra-branded. The stages were tiny compared to others and it felt very slap-ship. The layout was even weird, with one stage all the way off to the left and down a hill really close to some camping. It was weird to get to and I imagine if you were camping there, it might get annoying to have it so close. A second stage was off to the right and looked like it could fit in a standard club. I believe they played solely techno music that night and we caught some of Bonnie X Clyde’s set here. The main stage was in the middle of these two and thankfully had a large grass area and hill within its audio boundaries.

We usually enjoy walking through the stalls that make up the market area. None of them really impressed us. They also offered carnival like rides but they all required extra purchases that seemed a bit high.

We originally planned to scout a spot for the night but a DJ went on that was a bit too hard for us so we hung out at the techno stage until it was time for NGHTMRE b2b DJ Diesel. We have seen both separately before so we knew it would be a fun set. NGHTMRE did a great job balancing DJ Diesel’s more crazy / mosh pit side.

& finally, it was time.

The event we had been waiting for was finally, finally here. We found a comfy spot on the hill overlooking the stage and prepared to enter the womp portal 💪🏼 The experience was well worth everything else. Our favorite two artists performing together? You know it slapped 🙌🏼
